Ah, it's so nice to be back. The vacation was incredibly fun, I got to go to seven different countries! There's so much to say but I don't want some incredibly long journal going on and on about every little thing I did, cuz that's what it would be. Instead I will tell you some of the highlights, as well as the
plane ride dun dun dun
Remember how in my last journal, I said I would be leaving on the fifteenth? Well, I did leave my home on the fifteenth, I and my family, and we all drove down to the airport. Do you also remember how I said we had Buddy Passes? Buddy Passes, Stand-by tickets, they're all the same thing. Well, we got to the airport to catch a flight that left at noon, but as Buddy Passes will do, we go bumped. And we kept getting bumped until two the following morning. In the time that we were waiting in the airport I started reading
World War Z by Max Brooks, and I finished it about two hours before we started boarding. I read for eleven and a half hours straight O~o. What could have been only about a six hour trip from home to our first layover turned into just over twenty-four hours. And we still had a continent and an ocean to get across. The whole getting there process took somewhere between three and three and a half days, I couldn't say exactly how long it took what with time zone changes and all, and since a lot of it kind of turned into a hazy blur of standing in airports and sitting on planes. It was all quite funny really.
The vacation itself owned, it was so much fun, and I was in constant awe of the beauty of both the cities and the countryside. I'm so used to vacationing on the west coast of America, where everything's deserts and modern buildings with pollution (no offense), that to go on vacation to somewhere almost as pretty as home was truly a vacation indeed. I got incredibly few chances to draw, but I did get an hour one morning in which I drew the buildings around the inn we were staying at. And we went to a museum I tried to cram in some drawing there as well. But then I said to myself, "screw this, I just wanna go look at the rocks." (They had diamonds that glowed under ultraviolet light! It was awesome.) But there was a hall of stuffed birds and the most fascinating but kind of morbid assortment of severed bird feet, heads, and wings, which I did a little bit of drawing of. I'll upload those soon.
We went to some really incredible places, one of my favorites being Croatia. The people there had a dry sense of humor and kind of jaded outlook on life, but they were all very friendly and interesting to talk to.
I'm gonna go off on a bit of a tangent here. After Yugoslavia broke up and Croatia stopped being Communist, the economy there started to suffer. As Kristina, our Brijuni national park tour guide said, 'at least when we were Communist everyone had a job.' If Hawai'i were to gain independence, I think it would be exactly like Croatia.
Anyways, the trip was really fun. The flight back was equally fun, since we got bumped... to first class! For two of the three planes we took to get home! I watched Watchmen on the plane, didn't really like it, then it got down to the last fifteen or so minutes and I suddenly started loving it. Rorshach was really cool

The last week was spent in the states visiting relatives, and now I'm back home, with my desk upon a desk lying in front of me, meowing in my face every time I move, with my DA inbox filled with
96 deviations, not to mention the other messages. ah, there's no place like home.
