Prelude to Battle

AAAH BATTLES YOU GUYS! I am amped for this, Hiyotzin's gonna kick ass and take names! She may be all shy and gentle when you first meet her, but in the arena she's a fair-but-no-holds-barred kind of fighter. Early in her League career she had a lot of qualms about trying to hurt people, but she soon discovered that her opponents not only expected and even wanted her to fight as hard as she could, but also aimed to lay the beat down themselves. So while she'd probably cry herself to sleep at night if she hurt anyone outside of the arena, in the arena she has every intention of KOing her hapless opposition. Although, the reality of it is she'll probably be taking more defeats than victories
One thing you might like to know about Hiyotzin's battle style, if you plan to challenge her: she almost always uses Psychic as her first move, she will use Confuse Ray at least once, and her style is primarily using speed and evasiveness to cover her poor defenses while targeting her opponent's weaknesses.

Now about this little comicy thing itself! Firstly, the general vibe I'm getting from around PP is that in this world gijinkas are considered lesser than human. I think that's a good thing to follow on, it can be used to add a little conflict to everyone's stories, if they so need. It worked well in Hiyotzin's case anyways, and definitely in the case of that Honchkrow in the memory and in the photo.
He, by the way, is Hiyotzin's foster father, as well as the music professor at the boarding school she attended. The boarding school whose report cards she liked to tear up and toss around the room. He's the one who taught her to play the pipe organ, and much more importantly started her on her Pokemon Journey! Hiyotzin usually just calls him Professor, or sometimes Uncle Tony.

I've really been wanting to tell Hiyotzin's backstory, and I think it's gonna mainly come out like this; little bits of it where it's relevant, and probably some comics or things devoted entirely to parts of it until it finally all comes out. Mostly though, I don't want to end up just telling her story, I want to show it!

So here's to battles you guys! I'm ready, willing and able to take on anyone so inclined! In the meantime, I already have an idea who I'd like my first opponent to be. Albeit, it's someone I've never talked to save one or two comments on pictures, and I don't even know if he's going after the League... But Hiyotzin likes picking on people she thinks are weaker than her to give herself a fighting chance by challenging little unevolved Pokemon.
